2025-2026 Scholarship Awards Announcement

The Flagstaff Ski & Snowboard Team is proud to share that 18 families have been awarded scholarship.

For the 2025–2026 season, FSST awarded $11,800 in direct scholarship support for athlete training and participation. These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and community partners who believe in expanding access to alpine sports for every young athlete.

To offer a glimpse into the impact of this support, here is an excerpt from one of this year’s heartfelt thank-you letters:

“This is really great news — so helpful. [Athlete] was determined to ski this year, more than ever. It's great to see her so excited to get on the mountain. We can see how her last couple of years with the team have given her the skill and confidence she takes to the slopes.

We are extremely grateful for the support from FSST. The team scholarship is especially helpful this year. Extended family have helped with the ski pass and gear. We are grateful — and still sorting out what's next. In the meantime, we’re so happy she can be on the team this year. She did the scholarship app solo — I didn't even get a peek.

We look forward to seeing you soon. Thanks for all you do all year round.”

This is just one example of the meaningful difference these scholarships make for families and athletes in our community.

**Expectations of Basic Respect & Gratitude

The Flagstaff Ski & Snowboard Team provides scholarships through the generosity of donors, sponsors, and community partners who believe in our mission and in the potential of every young athlete. These awards are an act of trust and support, not an entitlement, and we ask all scholarship recipients to uphold high standards in how they respond to that support.

As part of accepting a scholarship award, families agree to the following expectations:

Demonstrate Gratitude

  • A sincere expression of thanks is a fundamental requirement of receiving FSST scholarship funding.
  • Recipients must submit a brief thank-you message to FSST and our scholarship sponsors after receiving their award notification. This can be a short written note or email. Younger athletes may have parents assist as appropriate.
  • Why this matters: Gratitude maintains strong relationships with the donors who make these opportunities possible and reflects the character values central to our program.

Maintain Respectful Conduct

  • Scholarship recipients and their families are expected to engage with coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and fellow athletes with civility, respect, and sportsmanship at all times.
  • Behavior that undermines team culture or disrespects the people who support FSST may affect eligibility for future awards.

Participate in Team Community

  • Consistent with all Flagstaff Ski & Snowboard Team families, the standard volunteer requirements remain the same.

Meet Program Commitments

  • Scholarship recipients must adhere to all team policies, attendance expectations, safety standards, and communication requirements. These standards ensure the integrity of the team and the proper use of scholarship funds.

Why We Include These Expectations

  • FSST’s mission is to develop exceptional human beings through alpine sports. Gratitude, respect, and integrity are not only basic social norms — they are essential traits we hope to cultivate in every athlete.

These expectations help sustain the scholarship program for years to come and honor the donors who make these opportunities possible.
